A LAW FIRM THAT MAXIMIZES YOUR OPPORTUNITIES AND MINIMIZES YOUR RISKS
During the sixteen years prior to forming CHEN Law, LLC in 2011, Karl L. Chen began his legal career at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Division of Corporation Finance, where he left in 1997 as an attorney-adviser in that division to join Nextel Communications, Inc. as its securities and finance counsel. When he left Nextel in 2003 as Special Counsel, he joined Fannie Mae in its newly created Office of Corporate Compliance where he served as the Associate General Counsel. In 2006 he joined Watson Wyatt Worldwide, Inc. as their securities counsel where he advised the company and it's investment consulting practices on board matters, corporate governance and securities compliance under federal and securities laws in Canada, certain countries throughout Europe and Asia. He left after assisting the company in its $3.5 billion merger with Towers Perrin.
In 2011, Mr. Chen embarked on a journey to create a law firm that would service the needs of Maryland and Washington, D.C. individuals who were injured and entrepreneurs who wanted to achieve the American dream!SO, HOW THE TRANSITION FROM CORPORATE LAWYER TO ONE THAT FIGHTS FOR INDIVIDUALS AND COUNSEL ENTREPRENEURS?
Like so many people who seek to have balance and fairness, Mr. Chen found his passion by fighting for the rights of those whose rights were taken for granted, especially by large companies, including insurance companies and other corporations and institutions. As a corporate lawyer, Mr. Chen gained significant insight in valuing how executives and their board of directors thought about litigation and employee relations. With this important understanding, Mr. Chen parlayed this awareness to become an advocate and fight for what’s right. In the event you, a loved one or someone you know has suffered an injury as a result of the negligence of another, THEY HAVE TO PAY!
For entrepreneurs that same level of advocacy is as vigorous and Mr. Chen’s business transactional experience is unquestionably valuable for entrepreneurs who seek to grow and build their business. Those who know Mr. Chen are delighted in the counsel he provides in assisting business owners with navigating through the perils of risk. Mr. Chen previously owned and operated a full service coffee bar. He encountered many of the hurdles of running a business from local regulation, supplier and vendor issues and employee matters. So when you speak with a lawyer about the challenges you face, Mr. Chen understands those issues and can provide workable legal solutions.
As a 1985 graduate of Ohio University with a BBA in Finance, Mr. Chen pursued his interest in financial and estate planning nearly thirty years ago, where he became a licensed life, health and securities professional working for internationally recognized financial institutions serving clients. He developed his expertise and understanding of complex investment and insurance products working for Equitable Life Assurance Society of the U.S., IDS Financial Services, Inc., and Monumental Life Insurance and Intersecurities, Inc., both subsidiary companies for AEGON USA.Our law firm represents individuals who have suffered injuries from just a few of the following:
